If can only afford to have one good coat you should heavily consider making it a camel coat. Keep it a good 3/4 length with the base sitting about a hand width above the knee. If you aren't already, this coat will make you look important. This is a Winter/Autumn staple. Choose a good wool blend, preferably with some cashmere, and look to spend $600 to $1500. Any more is really not necessary. Yes, this is a big buy, but look at it as investment clothing you will get much use of for many years to come. Double breasted always seems to sit better on the body, however single breasted also works. Leave the trench coats and macs for the recently graduated analyst kids and dress like a man.
